I. DIGITAL UNION EDUCATION FOR DECENT WORK Project (“DUE4DW”)

Most Rwandan workers are unaware of decent work and its four pillars (productive and remunerative employment, rights at work, social protection, and social dialogue). They are also unaware of the appropriate strategies for their participation in the promotion of decent work in their respective workplaces.

Furthermore, the financial capacity of trade unions to ensure the mobilization and ongoing education of workers in Rwanda’s decent work field is minimal. To address the lack of knowledge about decent work among Rwandan workers, SNIC has come up with an innovative solution of digital education for decent work – “DUE4DW” (Digital Union Education for Decent Work).

The project aims to strengthen the participation of Rwandan workers in the promotion of decent work, thereby contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 8

The DUE4DW solution combines trade union education, Decent Work, and the use of new communication technologies and social media. The innovation takes the form of producing and broadcasting a series of educational videos (presentations, broadcasts, dialogues, and exchanges) on various topics of decent work. The videos are broadcast via the “AGACIRO K’UMUKOZI TV-Worker’s Dignity “YouTube channel, which is already up and running.

A network of VOLUNTEERS FOR DECENT WORK spreads the content via several social media for continuous awareness raising on decent work.

II. DECENT WORK SCORE CARD Project (DWS)

In 2010, SNIC in collaboration with COTRAF RWANDA with the financial support from KIOS from Finland published research findings on the state of workers’ rights in 18 companies. Later on in July 2013, the same labor rights monitoring was conducted in 28 companies, covering the issues of freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining ( ILO conventions N°87 and N°98)

III. CREATIVE EMPLOYEE FOR PRODUCTIVITY AND COMPETITIVENESS Project (CEPCOM)

Today, companies and organizations are navigating in a context of rapid changes, ecological and technological transitions. To be sustainable and competitive, they need creative employees who contribute significantly to the corporate innovation process. Through this project, SNIC is contributing to the training and coaching of creative employees and the establishment of working environments that support creativity and innovation for greater productivity and competitiveness

IV. YOUNG CREATIVE PROFESSIONALS Project (YCP)

Young students graduate without sufficient skills in creativity and innovation, which are required by the market and nowadays ever challenging context. Through a process of training, coaching and support in creativity and innovation, young professionals are empowered to successfully access the job market as creative employees or creative entrepreneurs.
